Abstract

Nowadays dementia syndromes consist a major medical, social and financial issue because the number of people with dementia is dramatically raising due to life expectancy increase. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia and so far there is no effective treatment for it despite the long intensive research for the development of effective pharmacological agents. For this reason, a variety of non-pharmaceutical interventions are widely used in the management of dementia. The term "psychosocial interventions" is defined as the physical, cognitive, social activities that can maintain or improve functionality in interpersonal relationships and quality of life of people with dementia.
