Abstract

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is one of the most widespread chronic medical conditions affecting the Elderly. The efficacy of approved medicines to fight the disease provides moderate relief of clinical symptoms. Cognitive intervention is a non-invasive therapy that could help prevent and treat AD. The data suggest that specially designed cognitive interventions that can provide therapeutic benefits to patients with AD could be developed. Our aim was to evaluate the use of cognitive interventions in patients with AD. In addition, evidence suggests that a combination of pharmacological and nonpharmacological interventions could provide greater relief for the clinical symptoms of the disease.
