Abstract

Although the bPsD in dementia are very frequent –up to 90%-, although the burden of them in patients but also in the family and caregivers is very high, little we know about the frequency and management of them in Greece but also in the world. In this review there will be a discussion about the frequency and importance of bPsD, a brief review about the evidence for non-pharmacological interventions, a summary about the evidence for pharmacological treatments, a link of pharmacological treatments to what is known about the biological basis of key bPsD symptoms and finally a presentation of the best Practice Guide which tries to combine the best elements of prevention, re assessment and treatment into a practical tool to help clinical practice.
