Abstract

Isolated disturbance of time perception is a rare and not sufficiently studied complication of thalamic infarcts in which patients experience partial or complete disorientation in time and difficulty in calculating
time intervals. It results from dysfunction of the mediodorsal thalamic nucleus and its connections with
the prefrontal cortex. Here we present the case of a patient who presented with severe time disorientation
due to a bilateral thalamic infarct.
